这是澳大利亚Luminove实验室关于Lightscape所使用的Radiosity算法所做的解释,(该实验室以专业的光线研究著称。就象美国加洲的Lawrence Berkley实验室一样。Lawrence Berkley实验室因发明了著名的免费光线追踪软件Radiance而著称,至今仍提供该软件的免费下载。

"Currently the only way to achieve realistic visualisation is through a process called Radiosity. This is a process that simply breaks a 3D model into a large number of surface mesh or tiled elements, and when light is introduced from the actual luminaires or natural light source then each element will continuously receive and reflect diffuse light, according to it’s reflectivity and colour, which is then redistributed to the other mesh elements until all the luminous energy has been accounted for. This will produce highly accurate lighting values throughout the model that can be readily measured and analysed and when combined with a ray tracing process, it will produce remarkably realistic and stunning images.This process has been around for a number of years now, but it’s output has required the use of very powerful and expensive computers which in some cases could take many days to complete the necessary calculations. This situation changed significantly with the release of Lightscape 3 from Lightscape Technologies of San Jose, California."
