My suggestive case is for the concrete map within Lightscape. Maybe it's useful for your reproduce the concrete map with MAX attractively.

Hello,
I am an intermediate user of Lightscape(NOT ADVANCED!). I am looking for any & all advice for rendering concrete in Lightscape. Kent Larson's images are incredible, as well as the '98 contest winner's. I figure I will have to bevel all the edges on my CAD drawings, use 5 or 6 different variations of the same concrete texture randomly, and maybe even draw the holes left by the formwork on my objects (walls, columns, etc.). I am having some success in improving my renderings, but concrete is such an imperfect architectural material, it is very difficult to recreate those imperfections on the computer QUICKLY! Should I create my own textures in another program & use them in lightscape, instead of struggling with the stock textures? I would appreciate any helpful advice. Thank You !!

Use custom textures. If you have access to a large construction site, that would be a good place to start.

Hi Craig,

I have been confused with concrete
mat within LS like you did. It's really an interesting mat. I totally agree with John.
An accessible construction site means a wonderful mat lib. Take pics of any
concrete that interests you and scan them with high resolution into your hard disk.
Using PhotoShop's layer function is a good way to have them varied and more
realistic. I have to say that hard work with concrete maps in Photoshop is much
more useful than struggling in CAD or LS. In fact I have created a rich concrete
lib for my self's use.

My tip: Using the concrete mapping size as large as possible in LS.

Hope it helps.

Tony
