COMPETITION OBJECTIVES
·Improving the design level of the public toilet.
·Satisfying the need of the 21st century urban 
living style.
·Promoting the social civilization.

COMPETITION PROGRAM
Competitors can choose a topic by themselves 
according to the competition theme, taking the 
following one or several items into consideration:
·Concentration on the new conception of the 21st 
public toilet.
·Making use of new technology and new materials 
as much as possible.
·Attention to the environmental protection and 
energy-saving and urban context.
·Reflecting the impacts of the network on the 
21st urban life.
·Appropriately  taking  account  of the possibility 
of commercialized operation.

ELIGIBILITY
The competition is open to the undergraduates and 
graduates ofarchitecture or associated fields who 
were enrolled (including the students going to 
graduate this year).
Entry Fee: 1.Overseas entrant:US$10; 
           2.Domestic entrant:RMB50.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE DRAWING & IMAGE
·The submitted work must be on an 600mm×600mm
untransparent panel. No more than panels can be 
submitted.
·The drawing(s) should contain as much as possible 
the information about the overall plan of the initial 
design notions and the architectural plan, elevation, 
section, rendered drawing, analysis drawing and model 
photo.
·All the labels, marks and texts of the overseas
works should be in English while those of the domestic 
works should be in both English and Chinese.
·There cannot be any labels, markings of entrant's 
school or university or entrant name on the front of 
the panel.
·Please put down your name, telephone number, email, 
work-unit and nationality in English on the right 
corner of each blueprint, and enclosed with deep and 
untransparent strip.

 

 

 

 

JUDGING
A review committee made up of famous architects, 
experts and scholars invited by the organizer of 
the competition will evaluate all  the  qualified  
design  works. The  final  result  will  be announced 
on the opening ceremony of the International 
Environment Protection Tourism Month held in Guilin, 
Guangxi Province  on  29  October,  2001  and  the  
prize-awarding ceremony will be held at the same time.
New Architecture Magazine will publish the design 
works of the 
prizes winner.

AWARDS
·First Prize       1xUS$6,000
·Second Prize      2xUS$3,000(each)
·Third Prize       6xUS$1,000(each)
·Good Works       20xUS$300(each)
All the winners will be invited to participate the 
opening ceremony of Guilin International  Environment 
Protection Tourism Month and the prize-awarding 
ceremony. The sponsor will provide the accommodations 
in Guilin and the transportation fees of the first 
three prizes winners.


telephone, fax, Email, directing teacher and 
cooperator(s). You may download the application form
